Final Friend Illustrations

These are the final word puzzle illustrations. They are scheduled to be in the May issue of the Friend magazine.

Word Puzzle

I've been working on some spot illustrations for the Friend magazine. It's fun to work on a simple idea and make it visually interesting!

Cherry Picking

Some of my favorite summer memories are of picking berries together as a family. This is a sketch for the June cover of Stories for Children. One of their themes this month is "Father's Day", and a father bear picking cherries with his cubs seems like the perfect summer/Father's Day combo!

Happy Spring!

It's finally warm out here, which is splendid! It does make it a bit difficult to stay indoors and work on illustrating, but I've been enjoying myself with these pieces.

April Poems

These are the completed illustrations! I love developing a piece of work from the idea to the final product. It offers so many opportunities to explore and imagine!

Tidings of Comfort and Joy

"Christmas is more than trees and twinkling lights, more than toys and gifts and baubles of a hundred varieties. It is love. It is the love of the Son of God for all mankind. It reaches out beyond our power to comprehend. It is magnificent and beautiful.
It is peace. It is the peace which comforts, which sustains, which blesses all who accept it.
It is faith. It is faith in God and His Eternal Son. It is faith in His wondrous ways and message. It is faith in Him as our Redeemer and our Lord." - President Gordon B. Hinckley

Joy to the world, the Lord is come;
Let earth receive her King!
Let ev’ry heart prepare him room,
And Saints and angels sing.

Merry Christmas!

Interesting Textbook

I live in a college town, and most of my friends are getting in to the mid-term season. Somehow I think that would be less stressful if they got to study some less traditional subjects along with their classes.

Trick or Treat

The air is cooling off, the leaves are starting to turn, and the spicy smell of fall is in the air. Aren't the seasons wonderful? Fall brings so many fun memories.

This is a graduation card that I created for a local greeting card company.

Puppy Love

Dogs are the most wonderful animals in the world, but our apartment complex won't let us own one! So, I have to get by with drawing them.

Sweet Tooth

How can bears eat so much honey at once? I can only handle one or two spoonfuls, maximum.

Over the Moon

What a nice trip for the cow! I'd imagine that it's very peaceful up there.

Merry July!

It's been in the 90's and about 90% humidity here for the past week. It helps to work on something wintery! :)

Bear Hugs

Aren't moms the greatest? No one gives better hugs than a mom. Happy Mother's Day!

Illustration Friday - Neighbor

Being a next-door neighbor often gives us the chance to meet and befriend people who we might otherwise never think to talk to. I think it's probably the same way for woodchucks...

Here is a little watercolor and pencil piece.

Christmas Caroling

This is a basic sketch for a caroling sheep greeting card. I love the emotion that animals can produce in a piece of work. A picture of caroling humans...not that fun. But caroling sheep make you smile!
